Old Calendar Church of Romania

Post by Savva24 »

I noticed that the Genuine Church of Romania is listed under ''extreme'' juristictions in the Portal. If I am not mistaken they are in communion with ROCOR. My question is, what makes them ''extreme''? Do they deny Grace in certain Orthodox bodies?

 Thank you

I think the confusions comes in the TOC/GOC issue. T equalling True and G equalling Genuine. Of course in some languages, both words translate to the exact same word.

ROCOR is in official communion with the TOCs of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania while ROAC is in communion with the GOCs of Bulgaria, France, Greece and Romania.

ok I admit it I have the same problem as Justin, I cannot stay away from internet forums. :x

Anyway I am returning from my vacation from the forum to let you know that I am working on a chart of all the Old Calendarist jurisdictions.

It has taken me weeks to do this because I am reading literally everything I can get my hands on in English from all parties. After that I will make chart 1 and post it. Then, I will begin contacting clergymen of all jurisdictions mentioned to attain corrections and photocopies of any relevant documents. That will be Phase 2 and will be rereleased. Finally, if I get a good response, I may even with the assistence of someone fluent in Greek, begin contacting directly the Archbishop(s) in Athens, etc. I could even do this as my St. Vladimir's Seminary thesis perhaps, something I have considered. Anyway, I'd say that Phase 1 should be up in about 1-2 weeks, and I will post a link.

Sincerely in Christ,

anastasios

Anastasie,

That'd be REALLY cool if you do that and helpful to those of us that are confused by there being so many tre/genuine Churches in Greece and so many Free Churches in Russia!

Update on Chart:

I have the information layed out and am starting the computer work this week.

I decided to do both synod family trees and bishop "consecration family trees" to keep it as unconfusing as possible.

Please note that I do not subscribe to "Old Calendar Ecumenism" and believe that only the Synod of Archbishop Kallinikos is the canonical GOC of Greece. I do believe, however, that we can break down barriers and misunderstandings through prayer and discussion on forums such as this one.
