If it is a real photograph, don’t throw it away; it is a piece of history, and it should be kept for historical purposes. I understand your feelings about it, but if it is not a cut out piece of paper, but one of the photos distributed by the Synod (plenty of those from the 50 s – 70 s) or just a personal picture, put it away, it will be a good reminder for future generations (if any) of the fine line between truth and deceit.

Re: Glorification of Metropolitan Philaret
Good thinking, Kyb.I guess that's why I had saved it half-heartedly thinking there may be some future value perhaps to document the Decline of the Rocor Empire under the aegis of Laurus, huh?
I pulled it out with ease after I saw what you wrote. Brushed off the lime dust clinging to it. It may have even cleansed up some of its objectionable qualities a bit, as lime is often used to eradicate rotten odors....
It's a photo i snapped of someone else's official Synod photo as I recall.
I could probably get the original if that would be more useful.
I thought it was something everyone already had, so I didn't ask at the time when a former ROCOR priest was showing his photo albums.
The only reason I even took the photo was that the expression was comical. I've never seen such a "puffed up with sense of self", none of the previous First Hierarchs ever had that smug look. It was also a secretive look.
Look at the well-known pictures of the young Archimandrite Philaret. His Cross is in impeccable taste. The right size, ornate, exquisite, but not like an advertisement. His glance is holy and dignified, not that of an imposter to the ranks.
However, I'm glad you have cleared up the provenance of that Panaghia set. I actually find the history of those quite interesting. If you know any more in famous pictures, be sure to enlighten us here!
Well isn't it appropriate that we have been discussing this on the Vigil of St Job of Pochaev?
This is not important, but I had just also found a single picture negative [I guess those are obsolete now!] on a kitchen shelf I was cleaning. Guess who it was when I held it up in the light of day this morning? Vladyka Vitaly [Maximenko]...! Maybe he's on our side in this controversy and wants to let us know. He had a lot of will power so maybe he could help resolve some of these sticky intra -True Orthodox probs?
He's buried at that St Vladimir Memorial Church in New Jersey, right. I feel instinctively that that would be more secure than Jordanville cemetery in the years to come.

I'm not sure exactly which videos you are referring to, but if you are still looking for the русская тайна one that Kybihetz21 was requesting, I posted a link to it two months ago. It's available on RuTube.

Until is deleted by someone
The benefit of the VHS is that it can be watched at a regular TV versus the online version that can only be viewed on the computer.
By the way, since someone is paying attention to this topic, does anyone knows where to purchase a Gospel Book in SLAVONIC anywhere in the U.S. or Canada?
Thank you.

The simple solution is to simply download the video file onto your computer and save it as an mp4, so you can keep the video permanently. If your next hurdle is getting it onto your telly, there are solutions to this as well. For one thing, these days technology allows us to plug our computers directly into our tellys. If for whatever reason this is not feasible for you, you can acquire a reasonably priced device called a media player, which plugs into your tv, and has usb/ethernet ports. You plug the media player into your telly, and your usb flash drive or external hard drive containing your videos, photos, music, etc. into the box, and it plays the files on your television. You can hook up an ethernet cord through your router and stream the files from your computer to the media player as well, if you do not want to use a usb external device. If it is too difficult to string/route many feet of ethernet cord from your computer to your router/telly, there are wireless options available. These devices comes with a remote control and on-screen menus. Some newer tellys have built-in media playing functions in them now, and all you have to do is plug in a usb drive or ethernet cord directly into the tv, and it will play your multimedia files.
If the cost of any of the above proves to be prohibitive, simply use a free software program to convert the mp4 file that you downloaded from YouTube or RuTube into a compliant dvd format, and burn it to disc. Then you will be able to play it in any dvd player anytime you want.
VHS tapes eventually break, or get jammed in a player, and in the near future practically no one will have tape players anymore. Everytime you play a VHS tape there exists the possibility of degradation, so in other words they wear out. A digital copy should preserve the quality no matter how many times you play it.
VHS tapes and VCR's are also quite inefficient. The tapes are bulky, the machine is bulky and noisy, has a lot of moving parts, and uses too much power. Many of the media players out there are smaller, silent, because they have no moving parts, and are quite efficient, using under 10 watts. Superior in every way.

Well my own feeling is that now we know that Cyprian must live near Seattle because he works for one of those technology firms out there! Is it Microsoft?
Kyb is being a great sport about it, but clearly prefers the older style like me maybe.
My attitude could be summed up by: "Back, Back, Back to the VCR!"
CD's were touted to be so great but they scratch and wear out.
Probably DVD's do too.
I never had a VCR cassette get ruined, and I still cherish my collection.
Did you say that there won't be any VCR players any longer? What about those dual ones with DVD and VCR, will those be phased out too?
I'm worried enough that audio cassette players are quickly disappearing, it seems?
I LIKE audio cassettes. The sound is better than digital in my opinion.
then too, notice how the movies that have come out on DVD are just sheer garbage, whereas there were some much nicer ones on VCR.
