A Free Paradosis Posting Thread?

I can relate. I left Paradosis long ago (years now) for similar reasons. And you correctly peg the tactics employed there by the apologists on that "one-sided trap."

It is the same trap on ORTHODOX. I don't have the time to deal with the struggle there and after almost 25 years, the list now only exists to retain the more recent (since '93) archives. When I tried to reinvigorate it, the resulting noise level was so extreme that all signal was lost. Interestingly I was told that my attempt was announced by Fr Ambrose of NZ on Paradosis, in order to rally the troops. They didn't disappoint him.

To paraphrase Met Pavlos (actually said "ROCA")

"Forget "orthodox-tradition". It doesn't exist anymore."

I think I was actually in Met Pavlos' room when he said that to you over the phone. Was it on Forgiveness Sunday? He usually calls all the priests in our metropolis to ask forgiveness that day.

I believe it was. I was kinda taken by surprise that he said that when he did. Only hearing one side you might not know that ROCA and ROCOR were not a topic of that conversation - just as aspect of my past life which he must have sensed needed some definitive context. I don't know how he meant it exactly, and I can imagine how other people might interpret it, but believe me, to me, it was not one of the more obvious meanings. Such is the nature of statements from those with discernment. Brother Jose Munoz said a few things to me with similar impact as well.

So that's why this thread exists. Because they can block who they want on orthodox-tradition, I figured people whose voices were silenced now can respond freely. I think it's time we used our fora collectively to start answering back.

I guess I am more of the bent to not "answer back" here, but to simply safely be who we are and want to be here, rather than let them define us in their context.

Sure you can let others [like me who will not be reading the programming on Paradosis] know what might be important as revealed there. And being presented in our context, rather than their's it could be instructive. But to argue with them through links (to here) is to buy into their Hegelian dialectic - not to mention it might only act to invite them to come and wreak more havoc here.

As for ROCOR, it is sad, but it is true. Also, Vladyka Grigory (Grabbe) was saying the same thing in 1995. The different thing today, it is that the end of ROCOR is "visible".

As for "Paradosis", it is very interesting that its owner was saying he was "against" the MP-ROCOR union but his actions were not so, at least they seems. I never understood his "game"...
