Alternative medicine discussion

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Vitamin D3 in doses of 6 to 10 thousand units per day is supposed to combat cancer, and other illnesses and boost the immune system.

Here is a link for more info from the extremely reputable MAYO CLINIC:

Dearest Barbara,

Remember that there are never any stupid questions. You ask good questions, questions which make me realize that I have failed to clarify an acronym. I beg your forgiveness.

Regarding Essential oils, especially Oregano Oil, I first apply the oregano oil to whatever part of the body needs healing, then I apply a liberal coating of one of the Badger Balms. During this time, I try to be in a state of prayer by praying the Jesus Prayer, "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner."

I do not have the link to a recent study done, but I read a report by a medical doctor who stated that oregano oil is potent in destroying cancerous cells in the prostate.

I particularly like the Foot Balm produced by Badger Balm as it has anti-fungal properties. In addition, it is quite healing and can be used anywhere on the body, not just the feet. Oh, it is marvelous in healing cracked heels and chapped lips. Go and see Badgerbalm.com for more information. Their Sleep Balm is also very healing for any body parts. And, I just found out that adding baking soda to the Badger Balms helps to get rid of any brown spots, skin tags, or flat warts. My husband had several persistent precancerous lesions on his back and neck that were quickly dispatched with a dab of oregano essential oil followed by an application of baking soda mixed with Sore Muscle Balm by Badger. He had picked up a few warts that were likewise removed.

Again, thanks for your prayers.

Oh thanks Maria. I know these are stupid questions that everyone knows, but thank God,
I never would submit to any of this kind of testing myself, so I have never researched any of it.
I was furious even when an old dentist took X-rays without telling me what he was doing !
I am NOT a combative person or litigious, but I registered a complaint with the State Dental Board,
They called him and, gnashing his teeth, he finally withdrew the bill for the non-wanted X-rays.
To show how I hate any X-ray.

Maybe we can all pray that any residues from X-rays or any thing toxic or objectionable be removed from our
systems in a safe and healthy way !

I think it's a good idea to ask God for this help on a regular basis.
After all, God can inspire us to take certain remedies at certain moments to alleviate ANY problems or discomforts.

Yes, Maria, the TMJ [I do know that muscle as mine is always tense, probably all True Orthodox have this problem,
for we have to RESIST the mainstream and it causes the jaw to become tense and upset having to constantly argue back
or defend ourselves against the pervasive World Orthodox mentality !]
is NOTHING at all compared with the loop you talked about. It sounded downright frightening.]

Icxpion, I have been using Oil of Oregano too for a year or so - it's relatively new for me.
I have 2 types: Source Naturals which burns like you talked about - I put it in a thick oil, like Olive [but it still burns !]
and there is a Nature's Answer brand which already comes in Olive Oil. That one is easier to take but
is not maybe AS effective.

Dabbing the soles of the feet? Is that what you meant? Good idea, I hadn't thought of that !
One does that with for example, Cypress Oil, which is terrific for the feet anyway, gets rid of all the bacteria
and absorbs directly into the system.

I have never HEARD of Vitamin D - [3 ??] - what is that supposed to be good for ? Never heard of it, despite
all my early studies of vitamins for my Advanced Placement Biology class in high school... I just love this subject !

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I have never heard of Badger Balm !
I was reading the other day about the wonderful healing powers of Lemon Balm -
which soothes the nerves and emotions -
I will post something about that.

Badger Balm ??! Sure, I am eager to see.

I have been checking for something good to heal my cracked heels.
Ironically, when I was young, my horse suffered from the same painful problem and had to
be put out of pasture for months to heal.
I religiously applied Hooflex - and have often wished there were a human-hoof-flex product !

Maybe this is it -

Thanks for your kind and sensitive reply, Maria.
I DO feel dumb to ask things that i assume every one else knows already. I hate to divert attention
from the topic.
Now I am glad that i did ask for it opens a door to further learning and really valuable information like this.

Some more medical terminology from Speech Language Disorders:

Aphasia - difficulty in communicating through writing or typing emails, posts, or texts on computers; a possible symptom of a stroke or migraine headache

Dystextia - a newly coined term indicating difficulty in texting messages; a possible symptom of a stroke or migraine headache

Here is an interesting article: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/12/ ... LO20121224

The authors describe the phenomenon as "dystextia," which is the word used by other doctors in an earlier case involving a migraine, and symptoms of a stroke diagnosed for other reasons.

Dr. Sean Savitz, who directs the stroke program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, said he has seen a few patients who sent emails suggesting they were having difficulty with language, a condition known as aphasia.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

A-ha ! Aha !

I have never sent or received one 'text' - even the name sounds funny to me -
so I have no fear of a correspondent with Dystextia at least now.

I remember the diagnosis of Aphasia but I thought it was related to memory loss.

So that could be from like what, a small stroke ? Maybe one too small to be felt by the -- aphasiac ?!

Sobering to realize.

This site has some good advice about curing cracked heels:

http://shoes.about.com/od/foot_pain/a/cracked_heels.htm

The article concludes by saying:

When I started, my heels were in such bad shape, I thought I'd have to skip sandals this season. I assumed that getting rid of the thick, cracked skin would take a long time. Happily, I noticed results after the first "treatment" and within a few days, my feet were nearly back to normal.
