I think Barbara or Maria just posted something about Soy milk somewhere on the forum that Soy is full of GMO and potentially very bad for our health. How sad! No lenten Smoothies after all!

It was I. (false British accent)

You can use brown rice which has been cooked with excess water. This is called rice milk.
Or you can cook some brown rice and then grind it in the blender with some water.
Then you can add fruit to the rice milk to make your smoothie.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Great! I m glad to know there is a way around these kinds of problems.

Anybody know where I can buy "Ancient Grains"? I hear that ancient grains are now growing in popularity (oops pun unintended!) as the GMO invasion takes hold. These ancient grains are collected from grains that were recovered from pre modern cross-breeding of grain types which (though not GMO in the ultra modern sense) are also before GMO came along reponsible for grain allergies because they are unnatural grain types through decades of experimentation and cross germinating of grain types. Ancient grains leap frog to grain as it was centuries ago when all grain types were entirely those occuring naturally in the ancient world and totally according to God's ordination and wisdom. It would be great to know an online store that sells it in affordable bulk quantities.

You can try cooking organic Quinoa from Trader Joes and other health food stores.

Quinoa is great in Salmon soup along with veggies.

It can be blended and made into smoothies. Quinoa does not have much of a flavor so it can make great smoothies.

Thank you, Maria. What about for making organic bread?

I wish I could but my oven broke recently.

However, I must get my bread machine out of the closet.

Does anyone here have experience making bread with the bread machine?

I remember when I was in the OCA that several ladies would make a delicious lenten bread with their bread machines.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I have never used a bread machine, so I have no idea. But I imagine it is rather simple to use.
