Turkey is run by Jews merely pretending to be Mohammedans. They are called doenmeh or dönme.

The Jews, "A Scapegoat for all Seasons."
Ataturk and his cadre were no doubt Doenmeh; Erdogan is not. He is a rabid Islamic fanatic.
Re: Historic Orthodox Church to be Demolished
I believe it is mainly based upon prophecies of Saint Kosmas Aitolos.
Re: Historic Orthodox Church to be Demolished
I dont' believe that prophecy : there are SO MANY false ones circulating to build up the hopes of some.
I think people who readily accept the wildly improbably are too gullible.
Russia wanted the warm water port of Istanbul ages for centuries. Prince Gorchakov talked about this goal openly.
If they have NOT moved by 2012, I doubt it will ever occur.
[Besides all the hal lindsey fake predictions were that Russia would invade israel instead.] I have never heard of
a military invasion of Turkey being forecast. [roll of the eyes !]
They already tried Afghanistan to get to the warm waters of the Persian Gulf.
The Red Army had to retreat in 1989 in IGNOMINY !
So I doubt they would tackle NATO's largest standing military force !

Isn't this prophecy from a modern Athonite elder? Elder Joseph of Vatopedi? Didn't he also turn out to be a defender of the papal calendar and the Ecumenical Patriarch?
I agree with Barbara; I wouldn't put much stock in these prophecies.
Re: Historic Orthodox Church to be Demolished
It was a prophecy of Saint Cosmas the Aitolian.
"The Turks will leave, but they shall return and will come as far as Hexamilia. In the end, they shall be driven away to Kokkina Milia. Of the Turks, one third will be killed, another third will be baptized, and the remaining third will go to Kokkina Milia." (Kokkina Milia was a region which the imagination of the enslaved Greeks placed in the depths of Asia Minor and beyond. It is there that they hoped to push back their oppressors, i.e., where they originally came from.)

I simply stated plainly what I believe to be the facts. That you took it as "scapegoating" of any particular group perhaps says more about your biases than mine. A scapegoat implies that innocent people are wrongly accused. If you wish to present the Jews as innocent, that speaks to your biases.
Here are two Jewish sources, one famous one in America, and another famous Israeli newspaper, offering support to my contention.
Shrine of False Messiah in Turkey May Be Razed

But even those who did assimilate usually maintained some knowledge of their ancestry, and doenmeh were among the founders of the secular Turkish republic. Today, many doenmeh are among Turkey’s elite, though it is taboo to speak their names; since doenmeh are regarded as traitors by both Muslims and Jews, it is scandalous to accuse a person of being one of them, even if his or her identity is an open, unspoken secret. (Recently-deceased Turkish foreign minister Ismail Cem, for example, was “outed” by several Turkish newspapers, but he denied being a Sabbatean, and Iglaz Zorlu’s best-selling 1999 memoir, “Yes, I am a Salonikan,” stirred controversy throughout the country.)
In search of followers of the false messiah

In a book entitled "The Messiah of Turkey," due to be published this winter by Frank Cass Publishers in Great Britain, Ross reveals that there are a number of key figures in the present government of Turkey who are Sabbateans - i.e., followers of Shabbtai Tzvi, a Jew who, in the 17th century, claimed he was the messiah, God of Israel, and later converted to Islam.
