Oh no Malachy again! What a pain! Even if he had been an African, people would have seen in him the last pope. Some arguments are really far-fetched: his origin are from Italy, so this means Rome. Not at all, those people does not Italy, a country with very regional peculiarities, Lombardy is not Rome and it is not Tuscany... If in some years, it appears he was not Peter II, than people who want to believe this Malachy stuff will say he was an antipope and will keep on waiting Peter II.

Priidite, poklonimsja i pripadem ko Hristu.

Well, I have to tell you, Symeon, that some folks do believe that this current pope fulfills the Peter the Roman prophecy of Malachy.

(1) Pope Francis I parents are from Italy and of Italian descent, i.e., Roman.

(2) Pope Francis I believes in the charismatic renewal and practices poverty, and in that spirit, he believes he is the New Peter: See Acts 3:6-9 (NKJV). Orthodox Study Bible, Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2008.

  • Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have,
But what I do have I give you:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
    Rise up and walk."

And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and
immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the Temple
with them--walking, leaping, and praising God.

And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

(3) His Jesuit connection. Jesuits take an additional vow of obedience to the Papacy.
They believe in Matthew 16: 18-19:

  • And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church,
and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,
and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven
And whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Pope Francis I truly believes that he is the New Peter based on Matthew 16: 18-19.

Yes EXACTly Jean-Serge! I was going to post that myself as I was reading Maria's comment. Now, mind you, Maria herself is not making that assertion that being of Italian Descent makes him a Roman. She is simply letting us know what some proponents and enthusiasts and Malachian Cult believers are saying.

But this is the key point here. When a pet prophecy doesn't fit, they immediately begin to STRETCH the confines of the Truth and an EXACT fulfillment into a very elastic set of acceptable parameters. So, the necessity of being a ROMAN instead of being actually from Rome (a city) now only requires that they be from ITALY (an entire country). OH, he is not from Italy? Aw, crumbs! .....uh, wait! NO MATTER! His PARENTS are from Italy! You see, and and this is how it always is with these folks. They just keep stretching and stretching things until they get the fudged results they so desperately need and want to keep the dream alive.

By the way, Maria, there was one small mistake you made, it is in calling him Pope Francis the FIRST. We never call him by a number unless there eventually follows another Francis. That is why when Pope John Paul was elected in the 70s nobody was calling him Pope John Paul the First when he was elected. Only when his immediate successor, Karol Wojtyla, took the name Pope JP2 did they call his predecessor "First". Right now there is no need for any such distinction since he is the first one to take the name Pope Francis in history.

Guess what else the Malachian Cultists are saying to keep their pipe dream afloat?

Here it is:

Cardinal Peter Bertone from from the small town of Romano (Romano is not ROME but no matter!) Italy is actually fulfilling the prophecy because he is the one behind the scenes with the real power and making the real decisions!

Also here is a quote from one Malachianite:

Matthew Lopez 3 hours ago
Revelation 13:3
One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast...........There you have it, Bergoglio will most likely be assassinated, then you end up with Bertone. Petrus Romanus.

I suppose because Francis was elected on the 13th of March (13:3) this must mean the Revelation 13:3 will be fulfilled in him! Funny, why didn't all the popes and presidents and kings of history have Revelation Bible verses applied to them like that based on when they were elected? Hmmmm..... Oh well, no matter! We are right no matter what!
How every protestant is a such a Personally Infallible Pope with a Bible tucked under his arm. And yet they love to criticise the CAtholics, but they are even worse than the Catholics because at least they don't believe that they all have personal infallibility.

I have just come across another nitwit that says that Pope Francis must be the prophesied Final Pope because....drum roll!.....

Cardinal Bergoglio (his family name) has GOG in it as in Gog and Magog in the Apocalypse in the Valley of Armageddon!

berGOGlio

But wait, there is more!

MA GOG is there too!

Cardinal Jorge MArio BerGOGlio...The Monster of Gog and Magog?

Okay, after bashing the whole Petrus Romanus Prophecy, I will post here a link to what I admit is a very well researched and somewhat reasonably appealing argument about why Pope Francis could actually fulfil the prophecy.

Here it is:

http://www.logosapologia.org/?p=4794

He debunks a lot of the arguments against Francis being a proper fulfilment and also deals with interesting little tidbits like the time and date signature for his election etc. So if you want a YEA position that is actually free of tabloid type hype and is reasonable then this is probably as good as it is going to get.

Sorry, this book on Petrus Romanus reminds me of the Left Behind series.
It is all Protestant speculation to make a buck selling books.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Indeed, it is all balderdash, but it is the one article I have found that is least lacking in credibility and presentation style. Just trying to cut Malachianite Papal Prophecy Believers some slack. But of course they are probably bilking hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars out of people with their sensationalism and by pandering to the occult and supernatural and alien-interested Evangelicals.
