The sun has not been as active.
Here is a picture of the recent solar flares ... it looks like arabic ....
Note: this chart below has a typo (and this from NASA?)

The sunspot number has increased and at least one sunspot, AR 2360, is actively flaring and may unleash an M-class solar flare.
INCOMING CME? A magnetic filament connected to sunspot AR2364 erupted on June 9th around 1900 UT, producing a C3-class solar flare. Material flying away from the blast site might deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field later this week. This possibility is not yet confirmed by a complete set of coronagraph data. Stay tuned for updates.

Today, June 18, 2015, we experienced a huge M-3 Solar Class Flare:

This week has seen significant solar flares every day. As you can see, we had an M6 event on July 22, 2015.
Now we are experiencing CMEs (Green Bars at the bottom of this chart)
Note: This table below is dynamic as it changes every five minutes. Therefore, those who view this page after June 22, 2015, will see new data as the chart updates.

Here is the one-minute data printed below so that you can monitor the sun.
It takes about 7 to 9 minutes for a solar flare to reach earth.

I just noticed the picture of the solar flare on June 18. WOW !
The colors are outstanding.
Note: we just had a huge event -- an M7.9 solar class flare (close to an M8) that most likely will be earth centered.
Click the graphs in the posts above, which depict this monster of a flare.
Stay tune for any notifications from NOAA/NASA via Spaceweather.com, which is run by Dr. Tony Phillips of NASA.

EDIT: Another CME has been generated and is expected to hit the earth from this M7.9 solar flare per NOAA/NASA.
