Barbara, are you willing to confess that Rome has been mired in schism and heresy for the past several centuries? An Orthodox Christian should have no qualms about confessing this. That is the teaching of the Church. What purpose would be served by our reciting in the Creed daily, "I believe...in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church," if in our hearts we were to believe there are two?

There is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, not two. You have to choose one or the other, but they can't both be the Church of Christ.
