Microsoft Scammer FOUND OUT !

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

This account NanoBaiter spends all day every day exposing scammers around the world, I see, from another thread that popped up.

He typically reverses the trick, gets into the scammer's computer, and easily finds their identity cards, passport, home address. Sends all that information to the local police station and urges readers to also send in requests so that lagging police will be spurred to action by the international outcry.

While many computer scams originate in India, there are plenty in the US, UK etc.

He explains how a recent scam he intercepted worked.
Entire thread is here : https://x.com/NanoBaiter/status/1961174288838660561

"The scam lies in several deceptive practices:

Impersonation: The individual (e.g., Manish Kumar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India] falsely claims to represent legitimate companies like AVG or Norton, when in fact they are not affiliated with them at all.

Misdiagnosis: Once they gain remote access to your computer, they deliberately show misleading or non-issues (like normal system logs or harmless warnings) and present them as serious problems that need urgent fixing.

Excessive Charges: Based on these fake or exaggerated problems, they offer expensive support plans (e.g., $199 for 1 year, $359 for 5 years, $899 for “lifetime”), which are vastly overpriced or completely unnecessary

In short, the problems are often completely fake, used to pressure you into paying for some stupid support plans."
