When Did The Serbian Church Lose Grace?

Post by haralampopoulosjc »

1945: Patriarch Gavrilo enters into communion with the MP and recognizes Patriarch Alexis

1965: The Serbian Church under Patriarch German enters the World Council of Churches

1983: The Serbian Church falls under the Anathema Against Ecumenism

1995: The Serbian True Orthodox Church is formed

2010/2011: Bishop Artemije of Raska and Prizren breaks communion with the Belgrade Patriarchate. The STOC receives a hierarchy, Fr. Akakius Stankovic is consecrated as the first bishop of the STOC.

Thoughts?

What specifically precipitated the formation of the STOC ?

Was it the SAME as [the later-to-be consecrated Bp] Akakios' group that we call STOC today ?

Yes, except that there is now a schism between the Akakian-STOC led by Bishop Akakius of Uteshiteljevo, and the Kallinikite-STOC who remained under the omophorion of the Greek GOC. Most of the Serbian True Orthodox follow Bishop Akakius.

This happened in Russia in the early 2000's too. It didn't end well either

How long has the Serbian schism been going on ? I remember hearing about it a bit but never any followup. Is there another Bishop involved who was consecrated by GOC-K ? Or perhaps an Archimandrite ? Who is that ?

And also from where did this title of Bishop Akaky's "of Uteshiteljevo" derive - ?

Thanks for any other updates.
