post scriptum: I have a lot of additional thoughts on prophecy and eschatology, especially as response to "WW3 is unfolding right now" or "there has to be a war between Israel and Iran" prophecies that usually cite New Calendarist/Sergianist "Saints" (I don't think I have to name who is pushing this garbage, especially on YouTube).

There are a lot of prophecies that were deliberately edited or censored; especially ones regarding the Soviets in Russia, which was done by Lavr Shkurla and the pro-MP faction of the ROCOR, which a good friend of mine -- the man who runs the Gregory Decapolite channel on YouTube -- personally witnessed.

It's gotten so bad with the editing of prophecies that Gregory has told me he won't believe any prophecy that was recorded after 1918 -- even if attributed to a Saint -- because the false prophecies and censorship is that widespread. Timotheos, a dearest brother of ours, has a PhD in Eschatology from Jordanville he received prior to the 2007 union: He often says prophecies -- especially regarding the end times -- should take up "one percent or less" of our mind at any given time.

St. Anatoly the Younger of Optina, St. Seraphim of Sarov and many other Saints say what will protect us from the devices of the antichrist is a strong spiritual life and God's grace that comes from the Mysteries done in His Holy Church...

What was their purpose in editing the prophecies? I can think of a reason or two but I have nothing to base it on other than paranoia. I have watched a few of the Gregory Decapolite videos but I wasn't sure what to make of them

The infamous example of a prophecy the Lavrires edited are the prophecies of St. John of Kronstadt, where he talked about the "light at the end of the tunnel" -- they tried to make it seem like the ROCOR going into communion with the MP was prophesied and blessed by the Saint.

They added references to the upcoming union with the Sergianists to a few different prophecies, including ones of the Optina Elders.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

St. Hippolytus - Treatise on Christ and Antichrist:

"The Saviour raised up and showed His holy flesh like a temple, and he will raise a temple of stone in Jerusalem."

St. Cyril of Jerusalem - Catechetical Lectures:

"And again he says, Who opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God, or that is worshipped; (against every God; Antichrist forsooth will abhor the idols,) so that he seateth himself in the temple of God. What temple then? He means, the Temple of the Jews which has been destroyed. For God forbid that it should be the one in which we are! Why say we this? That we may not be supposed to favour ourselves. For if he comes to the Jews as Christ, and desires to be worshipped by the Jews, he will make great account of the Temple, that he may more completely beguile them; making it supposed that he is the man of the race of David, who shall build up the Temple which was erected by Solomon. And Antichrist will come at the time when there shall not be left one stone upon another in the Temple of the Jews, according to the doom pronounced by our Saviour; for when, either decay of time, or demolition ensuing on pretence of new buildings, or from any other causes, shall have overthrown all the stones, I mean not merely of the outer circuit, but of the inner shrine also, where the Cherubim were, then shall he come With all signs and lying wonders, exalting himself against all idols; at first indeed making a pretence of benevolence, but afterwards displaying his relentless temper, and that chiefly against the Saints of God.

St. Ephraim the Syrian - On the Last Times, the Antichrist, and the End of the World:

"Therefore, when he receives the kingdom, he orders the temple of God to be rebuilt for himself, which is in Jerusalem; who, after coming into it, he shall sit as God and order that he be adored by all nations, since he is carnal and filthy and mixed with worthless spirit and flesh."

St. Gregory of Tours - History of the Franks:

"But as to the end of the world I hold beliefs which I learned from our forefathers, that Antichrist will come first. An Antichrist will first propose circumcision, asserting that he is Christ; next he will place his statue in the temple at Jerusalem to be worshipped, just as we read that the Lord said: "You shall see the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place."

St. John of Damascus - An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith:

The Jews accordingly did not receive the Lord Jesus Christ who was the Son of God and God, but receive the impostor who calls himself God. For that he will assume the name of God, the angel teaches Daniel, saying these words, Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers. And the apostle says: Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son, of perdition: who opposeth and exalleth himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God; in the temple of God he said; not our temple, but the old Jewish temple. For he will come not to us but to the Jews: not for Christ or the things of Christ: wherefore he is called Antichrist.

Cyprian, thank you for the quotes. It has been quite a while since you have written something here, so this post is much welcomed.
