Re: Political cartoons and memes
In the Star Wars prequels the queen “Padme” of some planet or other gets involved with the much younger “Anakin” who would then become the future “Darth Vader” of the original series, which is set further into the future. IIRC Padme is supposed to be something like 14 and Anakin 9 in the first prequel, although I think the relationship is in another where they're slightly older. Padme then becomes a representative in the galactic senate-thing. (I didn't quite watch the movies.)
The joke is that in the movies, she has a physical relationship with an underage boy before becoming a senator. Just like real US politicians (creepy).

Ladies, this is how men operate. Also used to be known as “church clothes, dance clothes, work clothes” but that was when work didn't mean office. (So, Formal Wear->Smart Casual->Dirty Work->Rags.) Clothes were also handed down within families. As kids grew they got the hand-me-downs from their elder siblings especially for casual wear according to the age of the item, and got new clothes only for formal wear (assuming the family could afford it).
There's no need to waste. P.S. even old rags were recycled back in the day. Impoverished old & infirm “rag pickers” went door to door collecting unwanted rags, which were processed for the remaining use of the fibres. You could also use rags yourself for applications such as firestarters. (*Char cloth is made by burning natural cloth in an oxygen deficit, such as putting a nearly sealed tin of rags into a fire. It's charcoal with a large surface area and hence ignites relatively easily with simple tools like flint and steel. Oil-soaked rags should not need explanation.)

Matters of frugality like this greatly interest me, very neat! ![]()
'It were indeed meet for us not at all to require the aid of the written Word, but to exhibit a life so pure, that the Grace of the Spirit should be instead of books to our souls, and that as these are inscribed with ink, even so should our hearts be with the Spirit. But, since we have utterly put away from us this Grace, come, let us at any rate embrace the second best course.'
—St. John Chrysostom, Homily I on Matthew

I have a hierarchy of rags, in fact [!]
Good clean rags right out of the Shop Rag or Painters Rag bag from Home Depot
Rags that can be used again but are not perfect, maybe a little paint stain on them
Rags that are pretty bad but still useful for really messy places
Rags that are full of debris - but still work for the most filthy areas as preliminary cleaning tools !
I never throw any rag away, let alone consign it to the landfill, til it has reached the final lowest level
Keeping rags handy is a good idea. You never know when a menacing spider appears and you need to grab it right that MOMENT
Otherwise it runs away and hides where you can't reach it
But for that - you need : a RAG ! Dirty one, preferably, as now you HAVE to throw your rag away to get rid of that arachnid.
