Yippee for Georgia priests anti-gay protest !

Post by Barbara »

In fact, I was just looking at my Nettle herb capsules before I saw this encouraging news item. Now I know why !

"Thousands of anti-homosexual protesters, including Orthodox priests, occupied a central street in Georgia's capital Friday, with some threatening to lash with stinging nettles any participant in a homosexual pride parade which was to take place there.

.... Those occupying the street held posters reading "We don't need Sodom and Gomorrah!" and "Democracy does not equal immorality!"...

A number of protesters carrying bunches of stinging nettles threatened to use them on homosexual activists. They insist that homosexuality runs against Georgia's traditional Orthodox Christian values.

Father David, a priest who was one of the organizers of Friday's anti-homosexual rally, said the parade "insults people's traditions and national sentiments."

Wow. We have a homosexual (this board changes the 'g' word to 'homosexual', weird) and lesbian Mardi Gras that is televised by the Government t.v. channel every year. A lot of people watch it. It goes for hours. My parents had me watch it when I was a teenager. I hated it. And for that, hated myself, lol.

Sad that it ended in scuffles. Christians should not use violence, it just makes the parade look good to the neutral observers who need to see a Christ-like example of telling truth without forcing anyone.

Years ago a blasphemous photo was on exhibit in Melbourne museum. About twenty of us, greeks, serbs and aussies, stood outside and sung hymns. A couple of days later two teenage kids took a hammer in and smashed the image. I was jealous :) But I wouldn't protest these days, you can't do anything in front of the media without becoming a character in the reality show.

Too bad the Russians are still commies or they could take up a space craft and engrave the chi rho on the surface of the Moon. A permanent protest. A silent, indelible sign of victory.

Do not be shocked by those who teach new doctrines but seem to be worthy of credence. Stand solidly like an anvil under blows. A good athlete suffers blows but wins. St Ignatius.
