Serbian Orthodox Church

Post by _cizinec_ »

I'm new here and was wondering what the different views are of the SOC by the likes of ROAC, etc.?

Like my Patron Saint, the Serb Saint Justin Popovich, I worry about the ecumenical activities of some of the Serbian Bishops and priests. However, I pray with an optimistic spirit for the growth of the movement within the Serbian Church to leave the WCC.

(I'm ROCOR, btw :) )

I am cradle SOC leaning toward ROCOR and I attend Serb Church here in Florida. I identify myself as EASTERN ORTHODOX. I am disgusted by the actions of a lot of SOC Ecumenists and their WCC affiliation. However speaking on behalf of my family and majority of people in my parish, no matter what our Patriarch/Bishop/Priest does, we the body of the church remain staunch anti-ecumenists. ORTHODOXY OR DEATH!!! PRAVOSLAVLJE ILI SMRT!

I was thinking about being recieved into the Serbian Orthodox Church or the Jerusalem Patriarchate, but I am scared that some ecumenistic bishop my change the church and turn it into an OCA. I am antiochian but thats because of my obedience to my spiritual father. I will proabley start attending the ROCOR parish near me when I get out of Boot Camp. Least I am assured they they will always be "traditionalist".

I again, in the spirit of Christian Friendship, do heartily warn against this path. What is to happen when the ROCA is absorbed into the MP? The MP has an agreement with the OCA not to enlarge its numbers here (and those may soon go OCA anyway). Therefore the ROCA may very well become part of OCA. And then you will be right back with the ecumenists and heretics.

It is not the beard that makes a cleric a traditionalits, nor is it Temples without pews that make a Priest, or Bishop, a traditionalist. It is the HOly Faitha nd clinging to it which makes a cleric right believing or not.

My ROCOR Priest has assured me that ROCOR will remain the same is it is now and will not become part of the fake autocephalous church of the OCA.
They will be ROCOR and the MP will be ROCISR is what he told me. I will trust him in this regards, since he has been to a few of there meetings between the MP and ROCOR.
