SOS! Save Our Site!

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

SOS! Save Our Site!

Post by DavidHawthorne »

Christ is Among Us!
Aren't there any forum rules to put a halt to this "copy and paste" Reign of Terror?
Or, any forum rules against a constant stream of detraction and snide remarks?
Will the moderators encourage moderation before more members join the Exodus of posters who have been here for longer than two months but don't care for the tabloid atmosphere a few have given to this once edifying site?
Or is this really the direction this site is supposed to go? If so, let us know and I for one will move on to a more spiritually fruitful destination....
In Christ,
Rd. David

I agree with David whole heartedly!

I would also remind everyone that not so long ago this site was indanger of losing it's old posts because we ran out of room. A very generous friend of this site paid for more storage. Yet, today we have someone who seems intent on destroying this site by using up precious space on what is literally garbage. Posts that have large gaps of wasted space, ads and other advertisments that have nothing to do with the article.

It seems a shame and a waste that the genrous gift of space needs to be wasted on such items.

I miss the site that was and certainly can do without what it is becoming.

Please save our site....everyone email the moderators, maybe then something will be done.

Non Topics--no surprises...

Non topics for those who choose not to know but maintain uninformed opinions...and it reads:

Secular news, current events, technical questions and anything else that for one reason or another does not seem to be on-topic on any of the other forums.

questions or is that you lack substance to any real conviction? Probably.

News in Orthodox countries and items of import I think are quite appropos...

Not being forced to read........

Christ is Among Us!

Whenever I eat out I consciously choose to be seated in the non-smoking section because, although I am not smoking, I don't care to have my health damaged by or endure the unpleasantness of second-hand smoke.
The same is true if I go into a room where there is a constant stream of criticism, gossip, detraction, snide remarks and other verbal unpleasantness- even if it wraps itself in the mantle of "zeal for the truth" when it is really a form of prelest devoid of real love, compassion, and repentance.
When we enter such a room the Fathers do not tell us, "Hey, who's forcing you to listen or participate- just ignore it if you don't like it!" Instead, they imitate the Psalmist who said:"Him that spoke privily against his neighbor I put away from me."
In Christ,
Rd. David

Firstly, it would be more appropriate if there were SPECIFIC criticisms rather than blanket denunciations like the Fathers and the Gospel...
