Hello there, I am 17, american living in Romania, and I am converting to orthodoxy thrusday sept 7th.
After I am baptized, how easily are my sins forgiven? even the worst sins. Do I have to have confession everytime just to have my sins forgiven? or can I ask god everyday when i wake up to forgive me of my sins and will they be forgiven?
My husband and I only have a civil marriage and when we return to the states we will have a religious ceramony, next year, but we really will do it. so obviously after I am baptized i am fornicating.... (hides a tear and bites into a chocolate chip cookie ) But if my husband and I go to confession before our religious ceramony and tell the priest we have been fornicating, will we be forgiven?
There is no way that we can have a religious ceremony here, its just impossible, I can't explain why, its too complicated, but i promise we will next year.
(in summery) How easily are my sins forgiven? and do i have to go to confession everytime just to have them forgiven?
God Bless,
Terry

Well, first of all, congratulations for your baptism... bout forgiveness of the sins, I encourage you to read the Repentance (or the penitence) by Tertulian which deals with this subject We can say the baptism erases the previous sins but only if the repentance is sincere...
After the baptism it is possible and highly advisable to confess as much as possible... Indeed, the confession is simply the logical sequel of your private repentance you begin in your home "asking God everyday when you wake up to forgive you of your sins". Both are necessary and square one with another... It may seem difficult to publicly tell one's sins but it is in fact necessary. Moreover, the priest is simply a witness and a counsellor too... Not a judge...
