Priest marrying gays?

Post by ANGELA »

Hi. Now that I am a new member, I would like to ask if anyone has heared that the European Union is organising a rule or something that a priest has to marry homosexual couples, and if he doesnt he will go to jail also if you are caught looking at homosexual people you could be fined or go to jail yourself. Has anyone seen this on a website? Many thanks.

I certainly hope not. There would be protest from the Muslim circles. Something similar is already happening in Canada, where people speaking against homosexuality can be accused of hate speech.

It will never work with the Orthodox. To be married one must be a member of the Orthodox Church; to be a member one must be baptised; for an adult member to be baptised he or she would need to accept all the teachings of the Orthodox Church, deny the world and the devil and all his devices; if a person did that he would no longer desire to be married to a person of the same gender. Therefore it will never happen in the Orthodox Church.

Actually, there was an attempt by an MP priest to register two men for marriage, but he was dismissed. Although, I think that gays will be able to marry in a state court.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh. Please tell me you didn't take this seriously. I think someone was having you on. It sounds to me like something completely made up and it made me chuckle as I can hardly see the EU passing any sort of legislation stipulating whom people are and aren't allowed to look at.

I mean, how would people know? Surely, they wouldn't walk up to strangers in public and ask, 'Excuse me. I'm terribly sorry to disturb you but are you homosexual? I only ask because I'm not sure whether it's legal to look at you.'

Who told you this, Angela?

Dear Michael,

A very reliable source told me. Besides maybe you shouldn't laugh, as things like this do happen.

Years ago, who would of thought that homosexual men would marry one day and in some countries it would be legal. I bet some people chuckled then, but I can't hear them chuckling now, can you???

So as I say, expect the unexpected!

God Bless
