RTOC Summer Session Held: New Priests Officially Recieved
(July 2, NFTU, source: catacomb.org.ua) The summer session of the Russian True-Orthodox Church under Abp Tikhon of Omsk and Siberia was held, in which a number of decisions were ratified, including the reception of a half-dozen clergy, the glorifications of holy individuals of recent years, such as Br. Jose Munoz and Archbishop Averky of Taushev, and establishment of presbyteral synods (such as those held under St Tikhon of Moscow).

The Synod held resolutions on the possible receptions of Hieromonk Lavrenty and Deacon Christopher in the United States (names and jurisdictions not listed) to be reordained. The Synod also decided upon the cases of Frs Victor Melehov and Dionysi MacGowan, who were received in their rank through repentance. It was decided that all were with the canonical territory of Bp Stefan (Sabelnik) and could be received.

The Synod also decided on the cases of Hieromonk Elia of the Moscow Patriarchate in Chukotka and Priest Gregory of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belarus.

Who is he? I've never heard of him. And why is he holy? What did he do?

Total ignorance. :ohvey:

Sean,

I actually was granted the blessing(by God), to venerate the holy icon many years back. It was a rare opportunity for me since Br. Jose was travelling much then and I believe it was the last time he came to Montreal.

Thank you for posting this. It's wonderful to hear. Vl. Stephan is coming to Montreal this weekend. I look forward to talking with him. When Vl. Tikhon came to visit, last year, I had a chance to talk with him. He is a spiritual man and very considerate of our struggles. He was simple and humble and open.

It's good that he's moving towards a union with Bp. Paul, not that they have any differences - oh no. They are not pretensious. They care about preserving the Orthodox truth.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

I was blessed enough to venerate the myrrh streaming icon of the Theotokos twice: once at Jordanville in 1992 and once in Ipswich in 1996. The second time, there were quarter-sized droplets of myrrh vapor hovering over the icon. If anyone has been to the St. John the Russian parish in Ipswich, MA, then you know that the temple area is a huge expanse. It is a long basilica style structure with huge vaulted ceilings. When Fr. Roman Lukianov brought the icon into the church, the expanse immediately filled with the holy fragrance.

Since Br. Jose was so low-key, I didn't even know who he was at the time. He could've been standing right next to me for all I knew. I didn't find out about him and his significance until after his murder. I saw the video that the D.C. Cathedral put out in Russian. A pious layman, who is now a priest made an audio cassette recording of the English translation that we played in synch with the video. I wept when I heard of his life.

There are thousands of saints and millions of martyr saints. Am I supposed to know them all by name? I know many saints, but I've never heard of anyone named Jose. I can name right now dozens of saints from ancient Syria, Armenia, Egypt, Greece and Rome that you've never heard of. Do you see my calling you ignorant?

Joasia, you have a lot of work to do on yourself. You need to check your heart. You are a very mean spirited person.
