Yes, this is true, however, it is also permissible when the necessity arises to show mercy to those who, for one reason or another, (Oh I dunno let's keep with the conversation here, pregnancy) where it allowable to show mercy to those who can not follow the canon to the letter of the law (cannon)?

I guess what is starting to annoy me is this idea that that there is no MERCY that is coupled with the canons in situations where it is called for, only a strict almost Pharisaical adherence to the canons...

In Churches without pews there are almost always chairs and/or benches in the back and on the sides for the sick, the infirm, the elderly, the pregnant, and the very young. No one expects everyone to be able to stand the full time, only those who still have their health. But pews get in the way of standing for the healthy and make prostrations impossible on weekdays and make standing more difficult.
