World Orthodox Seek to Celebrate Eucharist with Heterodox

Post by Matthew »

The WCC is having its 10th Global Assembly in the Autumn of this year (30 October to 8 November, 2013) in Busan, South Korea.

See:
http://www.oikoumene.org/en/press-centr ... f-churches

The World Orthodox (aka, the Pseudodox Authorities) will be in full attendance and participation with the Roman Catholics and Liberal Protestants, as usual.

One cannot but wonder how the Orthodox can have ANY support, attendance, or much less, any active participation in the WCC meeting for, in anticipation of this assembly, the WCC issued a document that comes to a close with these concluding declarations and goals of the meeting:

15. And so we urge one another to remain committed to “the primary purpose of the fellowship of churches ... to call one another to visible unity in one faith and in one Eucharistic fellowship, expressed in worship and common life in Christ, through witness and service to the world and to advance towards that unity in order that the world may believe.”4

  1. In faithfulness to this our common calling, we will seek together the full visible unity of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church when we shall express our unity around the one Table of the Lord. In pursuing the unity of the Church we will open ourselves to receive the gifts of other traditions, and offer our gifts to them. We will continue theological conversations, giving attention to new voices and different methods of approach. We will intensify our work for justice, peace and the healing of creation, and address together the complex challenges of contemporary social, economic and moral issues. We will work for more just, participatory and inclusive ways of living together. We will make common cause for the well-being of humanity and creation with those of other faith communities. Above all, we will pray without ceasing for the unity for which Christ prayed (John 17): a unity of faith, love and compassion that Jesus Christ brought through his ministry; a unity like the unity Jesus shared with the Father; a unity enfolded in the communion of the life and love of the Triune God. Here we receive the mandate for the Church’s vocation for unity in mission and service.

Let those who are in the World Orthodox Church consider well these words of Saint Philaret of New York:

Those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christ's Church is divided into so-called "branches" which differ in doctrine and way of life, or that the Church does not exist visibly, but will be formed in the future when all "branches" or sects or denominations, and even religions will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and mysteries of the Church from those of the heretics, but say that the baptism and eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, to those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate, or defend their new heresy of Ecumenism under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, Anathema!

Mark well these words, for they describe to an absolute "T" the very reasonings and joint declarations of the WCC participating Orthodox representatives, and a great many of their bishops and priests and theologians. They are being decieved and led astray into unity with the heretics--make no mistake about it; and unity with heretics (even if only in prayer or like-thinking) DRIVES OUT grace.

Footnote from above quote:

  1. The Constitution and Rules of the World Council of Churches as amended by the 9th Assembly, Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2006; III: Purposes and Functions, cf. http://www.oikoumene.org /Self- understanding and Vision. We remember the words of the First WCC Assembly in 1948, ‘Here at Amsterdam we have...covenanted with one another in constituting this World Council of Churches. We intend to stay together.’

Moved from Controversial Politics and Social Issues into World Orthodoxy.

Terrible, indeed. Thanks for the update. I had almost forgotten that the WCC is still functioning.
I recall it more from the Soviet era, when the KGB used it as a huge front for spies of theirs to
infiltrate Western Protestant denominations and have excuses for MP "officials" to make trips abroad.

What those people ever did, one can only shudder to imagine. Probably, they were sent
to conduct operations against the host country or countries where a meeting with fellow WCC people could take place without
attracting the same kind of counterintelligence attention that an embassy official or military man or even "businessman" visiting
the wealthy West would do.

I bet those MP people were not followed to the same extent, hence got away with more.
Tossing out a thought for the evening....

Bad news, all of this WCC charade !

Lord have mercy.

Let us pray that these people come to their senses ... or at least the people in the pews start voting with their feet and their pocketbooks.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I was looking into the WCC a little bit today and this is part of the Wikipedia entry:

The "human rights abuses in communist countries evoked grave concern among the leaders of the World Council of Churches."[9] However, the WCC policy towards the persecution of Christians in the Eastern Bloc was seriously compromised by the presence of secret KGB agents acting as Russian Orthodox clerics, sent by the USSR, to be on WCC committees.[10] At the 1961 conference, a 32-year old Russian Orthodox Bishop named Aleksey Ridiger was sent as delegate to the assembly, and then appointed to the WCC's central committee. He was an officer in the Estonian KGB.[citation needed] He was later elected as Russian patriarch in 1990 as Alexei II.[11]

No citation but Wikipedia left it in, interesting.

Remarkable that MP people haven't disputed this. Good eyes, arcmode.

So -- Aleksei Ridiger was in the ESTONIAN KGB ??
Intereting I hadn't realized that. I would love to see a TRUE biography of him written.
Anyone know of one in the works ?

I mean a very balanced account, scouring through his entire past.
He was odious, I shudder even to remember this man.

I just thought, perhaps they leave the claim without a source because they can't hide the fact of it, but if people look it up, there's no citation so it's open to question.

The WCC, it's national affiliates and the various peace movements were all infiltrated by Soviet agents and as Lenin so fondly termed them, the useful fools. Sadly the latter included genuine and sincere folks who without a sound spiritual base knew or know no better. Deceived by a movement alien to Christianity, yet appearing to have, in part, the apparel of Christianity.
